Tomotherapy

A brain tumour is a growth of abnormal cells in the brain. The anatomy of the brain is incredibly complex, with multiple parts responsible for different nervous system processes. Brain tumours can develop in a variety of locations on the brain and in the skull, including the protective lining, the underside of the brain (skull base), the brainstem, the sinuses and nasal cavity, and many more. Tumors in the brain can take on a variety of shapes and sizes, depending on the tissue from which they arise.

In general, the most common symptoms of a brain tumour may include:

  • Headaches

  • Seizures or convulsions

  • Difficulty thinking, speaking or finding words

  • Personality or behaviour changes

  • Weakness, numbness or paralysis in one part or one side of the body

  • Loss of balance, dizziness or unsteadiness

  • Loss of hearing

  • Vision changes

  • Confusion and disorientation

  • Memory loss

Because it concerns one of the most critical and delicate parts of the human body — the brain — a brain tumour looks to be a terrible reality for all of us. All of the body’s processes, movements, and functions are controlled by the brain, which is located at the top of the nervous system’s process chain. Signal transmission to and from the brain and other places is disturbed when a person has a brain tumour, regardless of how small or large the tumour is, leading in a variety of abnormal behavioural patterns. Following are some of the signals by which we can determine from home that one is suffering from a brain tumour:-

  • Thinking issues and memory loss :- Many people experience forgetfulness in their daily lives, which is frequently dismissed if it does not occur on a regular basis. However, if the problem of forgetting (loss of memory) becomes more frequent and severe, and one is unable to recall one of the most important memories or events of the day, it is cause for serious concern. Remembering things becomes a huge burden and a source of anxiety while the tumour is in this state.

  • Unusual headaches :- Minor headaches can last for up to a day, but if someone has a brain tumour, they may experience chronic headaches, and the discomfort becomes excruciating with time. Typically, such atypical headaches are not early indicators of a brain tumour, although they can occur if the tumour gets significantly larger in size.

  • Seizures :- Often regarded as brain freeze, seizures are one of the early signs of a brain tumour. Such a condition of seizure arises when the irritation caused due to the growth of tumour in the brain results in the firing of neurons, thus eventually leading to abnormal movements of other body parts, such as arms and legs. In the condition of seizures, either one part of the human body behaves abnormally, or it can happen to the entire body.
